PDF Guard — Privacy Policy

The short version

Your documents never leave your device. PDF Guard is a web application (at getpdfguard.com/app) that opens and edits PDF files entirely inside your browser. No file, page, image, or text you work on is ever uploaded to, stored on, or transmitted to any server — the app page enforces this with a strict browser security policy (Content-Security-Policy: connect-src 'self') that technically blocks your documents from being sent anywhere. The editor works offline. We use no cookies, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.

Who operates PDF Guard

PDF Guard is operated by Oron Eisenstein, a sole proprietor based in Israel, who acts as the data controller for the personal data described below. Contact: support@getpdfguard.com

What we do NOT collect

We do not collect, transmit, or have any access to: your PDF files, their contents, your signatures, images, or anything you create or edit. All of this stays on your device and is under your control.

What we DO collect

PDF Guard is free to use with no account required. Here is a complete list of the personal data we process, why, and for how long:

• Email address — collected when you request a free trial code, buy a license, or contact support. Used to send trial and license/activation codes, purchase receipts, and to respond to support requests. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you. Retained for as long as needed to administer your license, and for our legal/accounting obligations after that.
• Anonymous device identifier — a random UUID generated inside your browser (not derived from your hardware and containing no personal information) used only to enforce the 3-device limit on a Pro license. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in preventing license abuse. Retained for as long as your license is active.
• License and transaction records — which license/code belongs to which email address, activation timestamps, and whether a trial has already been used. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you. Payment details themselves (card numbers etc.) are held by Paddle, not by us. Retained for the lifetime of your license and as required by applicable tax/accounting law afterward.

None of the above is ever linked to your documents, which never reach our servers in the first place.

Cookies and local storage

We use no cookies, no analytics, and no tracking or advertising of any kind. The app stores data only in your own browser (via localStorage/IndexedDB), never on our servers: your documents/projects, your settings, your theme and language preference, and the anonymous device identifier described above. You can clear any of this at any time through your browser's own settings or site data controls.

Sub-processors

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run PDF Guard:

• Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery (CDN).
• Paddle — payment processing; Paddle is the Merchant of Record for all purchases and handles billing, invoicing, and applicable sales tax/VAT.
• Resend — delivery of transactional emails (trial codes, license codes, receipts, support replies).

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where that happens, it is done under those providers' appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone except the sub-processors listed above, strictly to operate the service.

Your rights (GDPR)

Wherever you're located, you can email support@getpdfguard.com to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct (rectify) it; request its erasure; receive a copy in a portable format; object to our processing; or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. If you're in the EU/EEA/UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
